High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire Visits Inspire Education Group to Explore Skills, Sustainability and Student Opportunity

Inspire Education Group (IEG) was pleased to welcome the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Francis Burkitt DL, to Peterborough College for a visit showcasing the breadth of education, skills and community impact taking place across the group.
Hosted by senior leaders and organised in collaboration with Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service (PCVS), the visit provided an opportunity to highlight the role IEG plays in supporting young people, developing future skills and driving positive change across the region.
During the visit, the High Sheriff toured a range of learning environments across the campus, including the College’s flagship Centre for Green Technology, gaining insight into how Inspire Education Group is preparing students for careers linked to sustainability, low-carbon industries and emerging technologies.
The visit also provided an opportunity to meet staff and students, hear about their ambitions and experiences, and explore how education can support aspiration, opportunity and community growth across Peterborough and the wider region.
The High Sheriff role has a strong focus on championing community initiatives and supporting organisations that positively impact people across Cambridgeshire. During the visit, discussions focused on the importance of creating environments where young people can thrive and develop the skills needed for the future.
The visit further highlighted IEG’s continued commitment to innovation, sustainability and delivering high-quality education that supports both learners and local economic growth.
