IEG Host Cambridgeshire Chamber Networking Breakfast at Centre for Green Technology

Inspire Education Group (IEG) welcomed members of the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce to its Centre for Green Technology for a dedicated networking breakfast and employer tour.

Held as part of the Peterborough Networking Series, the event brought together regional business leaders to explore how education and industry are working collaboratively to support the transition to a greener economy.

Inspire Education Group’s £13.7m Centre for Green Technology (CGT) at Peterborough College is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility designed to support the region’s transition to a low-carbon economy and strengthen the future workforce across green and technical industries.

Developed as a cornerstone of IEG’s Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Exceptional 2024-2030 strategy, the CGT reflects the Group’s commitment to anticipating future job markets and continuously evolving its curriculum to meet the needs of employers. The centre brings together education, industry and innovation to align skills development directly with regional economic priorities.

Guests toured the Centre for Green Technology at Peterborough College, where they saw first-hand how students are being trained in renewable energy systems, electric vehicle infrastructure, low-carbon construction and sustainable technologies. The session provided insight into IEG’s investment in specialist facilities designed to meet growing employer demand for green skills.

The breakfast also created space for discussion around workforce development, skills shortages and the importance of aligning curriculum delivery with real industry needs. By strengthening partnerships with employers and civic organisations, IEG ensures its provision remains responsive, innovative and economically relevant.

We were pleased to welcome a range of guest speakers to the event:

  • Adrian Davey, Head of Strategic Property & Regeneration at Peterborough City Council, shared insights into the Peterborough Vision and the city’s future development.
  • Trevor Gibson, Business Development Manager at Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT), outlined the organisation’s work supporting community engagement, net zero initiatives, and education and training programmes.
  • Daniel Harris, General Manager at GCE Hire Fleet, spoke about the vital role of apprenticeships, T Levels and meaningful work experience in building local talent pipelines, and how collaboration with education providers like Inspire Education Group supports industries evolving through green technologies.

By hosting the Chamber networking event, Inspire Education Group reaffirmed its role as a key regional partner — connecting education, employers and community stakeholders to drive sustainable growth.
