Inspire Education Group Secure WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence Status

Inspire Education Group (IEG) has been named a member of the WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence, a move that will directly strengthen how technical education and apprenticeships are delivered to meet employer demand across Greater Peterborough, Lincolnshire, Fenland and Rutland.

The accreditation is significant, with IEG’s Inter-College Skills Competitions across Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Brickwork and Engineering in March now being WorldSkills UK endorsed for 2025/26, further reflecting the group’s commitment to nationally recognised standards.

The WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence, delivered in partnership with the specialist awarding organisation NCFE, is a nationally recognised workforce development programme that supports colleges and training providers in embedding international best practice into teaching, assessment and apprenticeship delivery.

For IEG, membership means adopting proven global approaches to technical training, investing in world-class professional development for staff, and continuously benchmarking provision against national and international standards. This ensures learners and apprentices develop the high-level technical skills, behaviours and confidence that employers need in the modern workplace.

The programme also strengthens collaboration between IEG, employers and national partners, helping businesses to shape training more closely around real workforce needs, reduce skills gaps and build sustainable talent pipelines.

For the local economy, the impact is a workforce that is better prepared for growth sectors, improved productivity for employers, and greater social mobility through high-quality technical education and apprenticeships.
