Inspire Education Group (IEG) has joined employers, education providers and regional leaders at the launch of the refreshed Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) 2026–2029, reinforcing its commitment to developing the skills needed to support the region's workforce and economic growth.
Held on Friday 16 October at Delta Hotels by Marriott Huntingdon, the event brought together organisations from across the region to explore how education and industry can work collaboratively to address skills shortages, strengthen workforce development and create opportunities for local people.
Developed by Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce in strategic partnership with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA), the refreshed LSIP identifies eight priorities for the next three years, including strengthening technical and higher-level skills, increasing youth apprenticeship participation and addressing workforce challenges in key sectors such as health and social care, construction and logistics.
"We're here to respond and work with you."
As part of the event, IEG exhibited alongside other education providers and participated in the Educator Roulette sessions, giving employers the opportunity to learn more about the education and training available to support their workforce needs.
James Whybrow, Vice Principal for Apprenticeships and Higher Education at Inspire Education Group, shared how the Group is responding to regional skills priorities through its partnerships with employers, investment in specialist facilities and development of education and training pathways.
IEG works with more than 1,000 organisations across the region, helping employers recruit new talent, develop their existing workforce and access training aligned with industry requirements.
This includes investment in facilities such as Peterborough College's Centre for Green Technology, which supports the development of technical skills in emerging industries, alongside apprenticeship programmes and higher education opportunities through University Centre Peterborough.
Supporting the region's future workforce
The launch provided an opportunity for employers and education providers to explore how they can contribute to the LSIP's ambitions and strengthen collaboration across the region.
Through its continued engagement with industry, employer-led curriculum development and investment in technical and higher education, IEG remains committed to ensuring local people and businesses can access the skills and opportunities needed to thrive.
