Inspire Education Group (IEG) is proud to be working with Peterborough Tourism Board, strengthening its commitment to supporting the city’s cultural, economic and community development.
The announcement comes as Peterborough enters the race to become UK City of Culture 2029, a major national opportunity to showcase the city’s heritage, creativity and ambition on a wider stage. The bid, led by Peterborough City Council and local partners such as IEG, aims to highlight the city’s identity, talent and potential while delivering long-term social and economic benefits.
Through collaboration with the Tourism Board and other partners, IEG will support efforts to ensure opportunities linked to tourism, culture and the creative industries are accessible to local people, students and employers. This includes helping to create pathways into employment, volunteering, events and the wider cultural economy.
Local MP for Peterborough, Andrew Pakes, said:
“Peterborough is a city with a remarkable story, shaped by history, migration, industry and creativity, yet too often underestimated beyond our borders. This is not just about a title, but about backing culture as a driver of pride, opportunity and long-term renewal across the whole city.”
Leader of Peterborough City Council, Councillor Shabina Qayyum, said:
"We are a city with extraordinary heritage and depth. From our 900-year-old Cathedral and its place in national history, to our rich archaeology, diverse communities and the landscapes that surround us, Peterborough has a story that deserves to be better known.”
The move supports Inspire Education Group’s Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Exceptional strategy, reinforcing its focus on partnership working, community impact and driving long-term prosperity across the region.
We support employers to develop their people and their organisations. We strive to make a positive contribution to the prosperity and wellbeing of our diverse communities.
