University Centre Peterborough Celebrates Graduation Ceremony at Peterborough Cathedral

University Centre Peterborough (UCP) held its annual graduation ceremony at the historic Peterborough Cathedral. Over 200 students from a wide range of degree subjects, including Business Management, Digital Marketing, Counselling, History and Archaeology, received their degrees.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for these students, who have worked hard to achieve their academic goals. Many of the graduates have already found jobs in their chosen fields, while others are gaining experience or continuing their education with a Master's degree. Rebecca Abbott, who graduated with a First-Class Honours in BA (Hons) Digital Marketing and Communications, said, “It was a perfect way to honour our hard work and the incredible journey we've shared at the University Centre”.

A procession of graduates, staff, dignitaries and a brass band made their way from The Bull Hotel to the historic Peterborough Cathedral, where the ceremony began. As the graduates processed, a resounding fanfare filled the air, setting the stage for a truly special event. The congregation stood in unison, as graduates entered the venue and the platform party took their places. Reverend Steph Pedlar, University Centre Peterborough and Inspire Education Group Chaplin, then expressed warm regards to all in attendance and highlighted University Centre Peterborough’s notable achievements in the past year.

Liz Knight, Academic Director of University Centre Peterborough, expressed that, “Graduation symbolises the move of the former student into a new role in wider society as a graduate, there to use the talents developed as a member of this society. Today, we formally admit each graduate into the community of scholars, marking a significant step in their journey of learning. Many graduates have already secured full-time employment in their chosen careers, whilst others are pursuing work experience in a relevant field, or are continuing their studies with a Masters degree”.

University Centre Peterborough's graduation ceremony also celebrates a series of recent milestones, including being the highest rated University Centre across East Anglia and an impressive 83% of students achieving a 2:1 degree classification or higher in the most recent National Student Survey.
