Inspire Education Group wins International Green Apple Award for environmental excellence

Inspire Education Group (IEG) has been recognised internationally for its commitment to sustainability and developing the green skills needed for the future, after winning an International Green Apple Environment Award for Environmental Best Practice.

Selected from more than 700 entries worldwide, IEG has been recognised for its “Inspiring Sustainability” approach, which brings together investment in sustainable campuses, reduced environmental impact from its operations, and embedded green skills across education and training.

The award recognises activity across the Group, including the £13.5 million Centre for Green Technology at Peterborough College, Stamford College’s Modern Methods of Construction Centre, more than a decade of Green Level accreditation from Investors in the Environment, and initiatives designed to reduce carbon emissions, waste and environmental impact.

IEG will receive its award at the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, London, as part of the 2026 International Green Apple Environment Awards.

The recognition builds on IEG’s wider commitment to Lead a Sustainable Future, with sustainability increasingly connecting how the Group operates its campuses with how students are prepared for future careers.

Its Centre for Green Technology provides training in areas including electric vehicle infrastructure, solar PV, air-source heat pumps and sustainable retrofit, while sustainability is also being embedded more widely across curriculum areas.

IEG’s submission also highlighted a consistent 2% year-on-year reduction in carbon emissions, more than ten consecutive years at the highest Investors in the Environment accreditation level, and circular-economy projects that have repurposed materials rather than sending them to waste.

Following the achievement, IEG has also been offered Green World Ambassador status, providing an opportunity to represent the UK at the Green World Awards in Fiji. Its winning submission will also be published in The Green Book, an annual international reference for environmental best practice.

The International Green Apple Environment Awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit organisation established in 1994 to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.
