Local employers are highlighting the value of T Level industry placements in developing future talent, as Inspire Education Group (IEG) celebrates National T Levels Week 2026 across Peterborough College and Stamford College.
Businesses including Aqua Allies and Silo Services have shared their experiences of welcoming T Level students into the workplace, demonstrating how industry placements can help young people develop practical skills, gain confidence and explore career opportunities while supporting employers to build their future workforce.
Through partnerships with businesses across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and the surrounding regions, IEG provides students with opportunities to apply their technical knowledge in professional environments while helping employers identify and develop emerging talent.
From T Level Placement to Apprenticeship: Dylan's Journey with Aqua Allies
For Electrical T Level student Dylan, an industry placement with Aqua Allies became the first step towards securing an apprenticeship with the same company.
During his placement, Dylan demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn, quickly becoming a valued member of the team.
Reflecting on his contribution, Aqua Allies shared:
"Dylan made a positive impression during his placement with Aqua Allies and fitted into the team well from the start. He was enthusiastic, hardworking, and always keen to learn and get involved. It was great to see his confidence and skills develop throughout his placement, and he quickly showed us that he had the right attitude and potential to build a career in the industry."
"Seeing him progress from his Electrical T Level placement into an apprenticeship with us has been something we’re proud of."
Explaining the benefits of hosting a T Level student, Aqua Allies said:
"It also gave us the chance to get to know Dylan, see his potential first-hand and support his development over time. Rather than simply looking at qualifications or a CV, we were able to watch him learn, develop, and become part of the team. For Aqua Allies, investing in young people and helping to develop the next generation of skilled professionals is a key part of our business."
"In our case, Dylan’s placement led to him becoming an apprentice with Aqua Allies, which is a fantastic outcome for everyone. We’ve been able to support him as he starts his career, and in return we’ve gained an enthusiastic young member of the team who already knows our business and is continuing to grow and develop."
Developing the Next Generation: Norbert's Placement with Silo Services
Another employer recognising the benefits of T Level industry placements is Silo Services, where student Norbert has been gaining valuable workplace experience and developing his professional skills.
Norbert has made a positive impression on the team through his enthusiasm, willingness to learn and proactive approach to new challenges.
Kathryn Miller, Office Manager at Silo Services, said:
"Norbert has fitted into the team very well and is keen to learn and develop his skills further. He got stuck in straight away and asks questions when needed."
For Silo Services, welcoming a T Level student provides an opportunity to introduce young people to the industry while supporting them to develop skills and working practices suited to the business.
Kathryn explained:
"I think taking on a T Level student allows the company to train them to their own expectations, without any influence from previous bad habits or different ways of working."
Encouraging other employers to consider offering placements, Kathryn added:
"We would recommend other companies to offer placements to T Level students as they deserve the opportunity to showcase themselves, and we need to encourage and attract the next generation of talent into our industries to bring fresh perspectives, new skills, and innovative ideas. Investing in young talent is essential for the long-term growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of the industry."
Could Your Business Help Develop the Next Generation of Skilled Professionals?
As National T Levels Week celebrates the opportunities created through technical education, IEG is encouraging more employers to consider the benefits of hosting a T Level industry placement.
Whether it's helping a young person take their first steps into an industry or identifying a potential future employee, businesses can play an important role in developing the skilled workforce of tomorrow.
Aqua Allies and Silo Services demonstrate how investing in young talent can create opportunities that benefit individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
